Wowzer! Found this in the new rock box I found in the garage which has some of the best stuff from this old rock hound, Some are labeled, some I recognize and a few are complete mysteries to me. This is a large high quality Nephrite jade unpolished slab rough gemstone rock for carving or cabbing. Weighs approx. 4 ounces, roughly 112 grams. Translucent to almost transparent jade with many patterns and colors. It is mostly green color with a few darker and lighter colors. I really like the area of white flowers on one side. I also know parts of this as spinach jade, but have never seen so many patterns in one piece. But then it is a large piece- 6 1/2 inches long x 2 inches high and 1/4 inch. You can get several cabs from this or use for a relief or intaglio carving. I don't know where this came from as it was part of a large lot of stuff I bought 20 years ago from a very old rock hound. But looks like BC jade to me. Some flaws can be seen in photos but overall solid. Flaws are at the ends. See photos for more information. First ones are wet, last are dry.
