Designer Alice Caviness started her business in 1945. her pieces were of the highest quality and she is known for employing unusual materials. She employed other designers, but was involved in every step of design, production and sale of her pieces. Alice retired in 1970. Her partner, Lois cheapest Steever, continued the company until 2000 when it ceased production.
