This is a beautiful early 20th century unbranded hinged tin with female portraits on the lid and two sides framed by gilt art nouveau shapes and decorated with classical swags of flowers and hanging ribbons, against a mosaic lace-like pink background. The litho-printed portraits are classical in subject matter cheapest and are intensely coloured. The top panel features a woman and child with doves flying into perch. The front cartouche features a smiling girl with flowers, while the back panel a woman situated between two columns holding a tambourine. The tin oozes quality and style.
Condition is good with small signs of wear to the lid edge and the gilt areas and tiny shallow scratches. The hinges are in good order and the lid a good fit, There are small spots of surface rust inside and the body of the tin is a little misshapen on one corner.
